From the courtroom of today’s Basi-Virk hearings: Justice Bennett has ruled that the missing and possibly destroyed emails must be given to the defence, and issued a court order forcing the government to hand over the documents: http://www.vancouversun.com/Judge+Basi+Virk+case+rules+mails+premier+staff+must+disclosed/1809005/story.html
Whoever ordered those emails to be destroyed must be feeling pretty uncomfortable right now. The contents of those email communications among the premiers inner circle have been the subject of much speculation in recent months. Complete details will be posted as the reports come in, over at http://bctrialofbasi-virk.blogspot.com/
Now, scroll down to read the post right below, with a link to the announcement that the RCMP have launched a preliminary probe into whether or not a criminal investigation should be ordered into those missing emails – which may have suddenly become an even bigger thorn in many politicians – old and new alike – sides… https://lailayuile.wordpress.com/2009/07/20/the-people-who-ordered-the-records-destroyed-have-no-place-in-government/
( this should provide plenty of discussion for CKNW, no? Christy Clark was deputy premier at the time of the deal, and her emails are among those ordered to be given to the judge)
I think it’s time for a refresher on who’s who in this case, so when you have a moment, go and read this fantastic bit titled ” Railgate, A to Z“, by Bill Tieleman.
Hey Laila,

well, well, well. Thank you RossK !
Nice to see Yvette Wells on there as well – considering the notes she left in her notebooks, it might be pretty darn interesting to read her emails, don’t cha think ?
Now, what will the Premiers comment be about all of this? Or will he be off to his house in Hawaii where he can’t be reached for comment?

Ya.
Sure would be nice if somebody in the proMedia, tried to get an interview with Ms. Wells don’t you think…..?

RossK, after those 8000 NDP documents were released, I was the only one to write about that one, highly relevant page in her notebooks, as detailed in the link in my last comment – that is , until Bill Tieleman later wrote about it in the Tyee in May and pointed out just that – that no one in the media had even mentioned it but me thus far – if it were not for yourself, BC Mary, Kootcoot and others who did their part in promoting that post, it would have only been a small portion of the people of BC who ended up seeing it.
That one page of notes is still very significant to the entire scandal, and to date I still have not seen it picked up anywhere but by Bill.( with thanks to him for pointing this out) How can that be?
I would love to see that excerpt on the front page of one of our local papers. They can get all the details from my blog post.
Anyone have her number?

Like your name is really Henri Paul? You have a beret to go with that, and some escargot, non?
Deny, deny deny all you like, Laila, because you only sound like a politician. If you want to be like that fine. I’ll ask you straight out.
Did you or did you not, date Erik Bornmann several years ago, who is one of the key figures in these hearings?

I have to agree with Henri Paul on this one.
But I will answer your question- again – because I know from the last time you were here, you otherwise become rather annoying.
No, I have not and did not date Eric Bornmann. And to go even further, I have not even had the occasion of meeting him -although if I did I would certainly have some questions for him!! What a blog post that would be!
Now, go away and troll somewhere else.
By the way everyone, Bits and Bites will come tomorrow. I have two kids who were up late last night because of the heat, and are driving me up the wall to go into the pool right now. Enjoy the heat! Cheers

Ohmy, I go enjoy the sun for a bit and look what happens.
Ignore anonymous, Henri Paul.they really aren’t worth the time.
He or she shows up pretty much every time I write about or mention Christy Clark and starts spouting the spiderman relationship thing. Grasping at straws trying to create a distraction. It does sound PAB-ish to me, don’t you think?

well this case just keeps getting bigger and bigger, im guessing this will probably be one the longest summers for the liberals since taking office. many decisions to be made by the sounds of it. personally i just want to know who gave the order to destroy the emails, im thinking it wasnt done telepathically and im hoping the order didnt come from ken dobell either(for sure they’d be long gone). im hoping the honorable premier will do the honorable thing and step down until this is over(remember the fuss campbell used to cause when he was leader of the opposition now when the shoe fits he’s quiet as a church mouse) or at least we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that his office and ministers had no involvement in the sale of bc rail like he has maintained all along. if these emails are gone there needs to be a public inquest as well going after someone for obstruction of justice. well im off to san diego for comic con 2009. and laila thanks for the updates, yours bcmary, bill tieleman, and mark hume.
