Celebrating 6 years of blogging here at

Well, it was a bit of a shocking reminder as I logged into my blog this morning and received a celebratory congratulations on my 6th year anniversary – it was on this date 6 years ago I registered my blog and I haven’t looked back since.  And the timing couldn’t have been better since last weekend I participated in a Political Writing Workshop at Douglas College with my fellow 24Hrs Vancouver columnists, Bill Tieleman and Daniel Fontaine.. which effectively brings the entire experience full circle in lending my experience and knowledge to others.

Today, so many years later, the stats still amaze me. As of this post,I’ve written 1,222 posts, there have been 12,994 comments and I’ve had 1,183,450 unique page views…and I owe it all to you.

The evolution of this blog has been very akin to child rearing- you don’t always know what you are doing but as you learn more, you do better! I’ve been very lucky to have had input and guidance from other stellar writers and journalist’s over the years, and to them, my eternal thanks. There is no pay for this effort, simply the satisfaction and fulfillment of being able to share, and educate others who may or may not find my work relevant.

So on this very auspicious day, as the writ drops and we whirl into yet another election season, may I say congratulations to all of you who have helped make our blog such a success!!

Here’s to you, and to continuing success revealing and breaking stories, secrets and keeping all of our politician’s and governments on the straight and narrow.

  1. Congratulations Laila! You,AGT,Norm,Ian and the rest have done much to change the political landscape of BC for the better! You’ve done much to prod BC’s MSM to actually do thier jobs. They’d still be giving the BC Liberals free passes if it weren’t for you and the others. Well done!

  2. Congrats, Laila!

Here’s a vote of thanks for the work you have done and will be doing in the next month, to bring the Christy Party to the trash bin. Well… probably the recycle bin. Some of them will rise again under a new flag.

  3. Congrats Laila!
You definitely have had my ear and my attention the last couple years, your blog is so well written and interspersed with factual links.
Stay your course, you’re on the right boat! 🙂
    Cheers to you!!

  4. Congratulations Laila! I am a Newbie here and have learned so much!! This is my first actual post! I have communicate via email with Laila(jj) But don’t know near enough to comment here. Thanks so much also to all the ‘elders’ for what you teach me. 🙂

    • Hey, great to see you! And yes you know more than enough to comment here – there is no such thing as too inexperienced, and we are glad to have you on board.

  5. THANK YOU !! Laila. Wow – 6 years. Just when we think this province can’t get more corrupt – it does. I look forward to your future posts on failed Liberal candidates being appointed to directorships of all those corporations that you have written about so pointedly here. How anyone could support the BC Lieberal steady errosion of justice and accountability and environmental negligence is absolutely beyond belief.
Thank you for your independence – your courage, humour, and firerce determination to find the truth, articulated so well here. Congratulations!

  6. Congratulations! This blog has been a wonderful antidote to the corporate mainstream media. Thank you for all your hard work and research that goes into each post and thank you for being able to tackle complex issues so elegantly and breaking them down into easily digested pieces. Mostly, thank you for staying true to your principles and convictions. I am proud to call you my friend and I look forward to many more years of your insight.

  7. I have only recently come on board with you, and am certainly glad that I was made aware of your work. It is factual, informative, well-researched and written, and it is the TRUTH, something which is hard to find on the political landscape in BC and something to be treasured. Your effort is appreciated and encouraged. Here’s to years of success in unravelling the quagmire. Cheers!

  8. Dear Laila.
You are successful at what you do because, you are the best. No bias from you. No matter who the Politician nor, what level of government? With you, the truth is the truth, come hell or high water. I haven’t been on board for all that long. I would love to see your first blog Laila.

No matter where you look? BC has the best bloggers. BC citizens are very fortunate in that. You have no idea? How well informed BC citizens are and, we owe it all to our bloggers.

  9. Wow! 6 Years ! Thats incredible. Keep up the great work. We all love your point of view even if we dont sometimes agree its fun being able to “parry” back and forth with the actual “author”.
When its your 25th anniversary….. THATS when I’ll feel old 🙂

  10. Cheers and congratulations for your insightful and thorough digging into the dark corners that politicians would rather be left alone!
Thanks for being part of a whole new generation of bloggers who have found their passion.

  11. Congratulations. Your writing over the last six years has helped change the political discourse of the province and provided a much-needed prod to many in the mainstream media. I find your writing always concise, to the point, un-biased and polite (although it must be a chore to keep emotions in check in the face of blatant political BS).

  12. Thank you all, it’s been a crazy busy couple of days with several things on the go, but thank you for all hanging in there.

I do like that we don’t always agree, but we can start the conversations and debate and generate some critical thinking in the process. And more than a few friendships have blossomed as a result!

  13. Hi Laila,
Thanks for doing what you do – please keep doing it.
There is nothing like substantiated truth – unlike what we get from the MSM and BC Lieberal PAB machine.

  14. You can definitely see your expertise in the work you write. The arena hopes for more passionate writers such as you who are not afraid to say how they believe. At all times go after your heart. “Faith in the ability of a leader is of slight service unless it be united with faith in his justice.” by George Goethals.
